Physiotherapy with a Medical Prescription
I am a licensed physical therapist and invoice health, accident, military, or disability insurance directly for physical therapy treatments provided under a doctor’s prescription. The costs are covered according to the applicable rates. The deductible and co-payment costs are the responsibility of the patient.
The initial physical therapy consultation based on a doctor’s prescription must take place within 5 weeks of the prescription’s date of issue; otherwise, the prescription expires and must be renewed.

FAQ
Please bring your doctor’s prescription and, if available, your MRI report, surgical report, and any other test results, such as a gait analysis. Wear clothing suitable for exercise or bring your workout clothes.
The duration of a physiotherapy treatment depends on the applicable tariff regulations and the indicated therapy.
For treatments prescribed by a doctor and invoiced through accident insurance (UVG), invoicing is based on 5-minute intervals. A treatment session generally lasts around 25 to 45 minutes, plus administrative work carried out in the absence of the patient (maximum 120 minutes per 9 sessions).
If the treatment is invoiced through the health insurance (KVG), a fixed tariff is currently charged per session. Treatment generally lasts around 25 minutes per session, although the tariff is not time-based.
Dry needling is a physiotherapy treatment technique that uses a fine needle to specifically target tense or painful areas of muscle (trigger points). It can help relieve pain, reduce muscle tension, and improve mobility.
Dry needling can be beneficial for conditions such as muscular tension, tendon-related symptoms, and overuse injuries. A thorough clinical assessment determines whether the treatment is indicated on an individual basis.
If the treatment is to be invoiced through basic health insurance according to the applicable rates, a doctor’s prescription is required. If you cover the costs privately, no prescription is necessary. The following rates apply: 50 minutes for CHF 155, 25 minutes for CHF 80.
Yes, provided there is a doctor’s prescription and the treatment is medically indicated. The deductible costs and co-payment still apply. A prescription typically covers 9 treatments. After 36 treatments, a doctor’s report to the health insurance provider is often required to continue the therapy and have the costs covered. It is advisable to have the cost approval confirmed.

FAQ
At the beginning, we will discuss your symptoms and conduct a thorough examination. We will then assess the mobility and function of your spine, pelvis, and joints and provide targeted treatment. Depending on the findings, we will use manual techniques and active exercises. The goal is to improve functional connections and restore normal movement patterns.
This depends largely on the symptoms. As a rule, acute symptoms require fewer treatment sessions than chronic conditions that have persisted for some time. However, the first effects of therapy should be noticeable after 1 to 3 sessions.
The treatment is gentle and usually painless. However, you may experience fatigue or a sensation similar to muscle soreness afterward, typically lasting 1 to 3 days, or you may notice a temporary shift in your symptoms. These are all signs that your body is responding to the treatment.
For acute symptoms, 1 to 2 treatments per week are recommended; for chronic, long-standing, complex symptoms, slightly longer intervals between treatments, 2 to 4 weeks, are more appropriate.
I am certified in the FOI method and have an EMR billing number. Some supplemental insurance plans cover a portion of the costs. Check with your supplemental insurance provider.
